The JP Story

JP started playing guitar at the age of 8 and by age 10 it was clear that something special was happening here. This "Something Special" was recognized by legendary bluesman Sam "Bluzman" Taylor. Sam took JP under his wing and began to school him on the blues, or what Sam use to call "SAMerizing" him. It was under Sam's watchful eye that JP began to flourish as a musician and a bluesman!

By age 11 JP progressed to the point where he was ready to play large festivals, and play he did! JP began playing throughout the country with Sam Bluzman Taylor, Phil Grande and MNB3 opening for such artists as Derek Trucks, Johnny Winter, Robben Ford, Joe Bonamassa, Cactus, among others.

In addition JP had the pleasure of sharing the stage with such legendary artists as Michael Falzarano (Hot Tuna), Chris Beard, Debbie Davies, Pete Sears (Jefferson Starship), Buddy Cage (New Riders), Caroline Aiken, Geoff Ackerson, Jon Paris, Kerry Kearney (Marty Balin), Phil Grande (Joe Cocker), Scott Holt (Buddy Guy) and so many more. JP was recently invited to perform with Vince Converse, Nathaniel Peterson and Dennis Innessibuw (Robert Plant) at the Rory Galleger Tribute show in New York City as well as being invited by the Georgia Music Hall of Fame to play with Caroline Aiken and Three 5 Human at the Hard Rock Cafe in Atlanta Georgia.

Now, With all this experience under his belt JP decided it was time to take the music to a new place!  Together with industry veteran Drummer Pat Adkins (Gary U.S. Bonds, Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley, BB King) and an amazing young bassist John Young, JP began to lay the foundation for the JP Blues band.

The first project was to compete in the Long Island Blues Society Blues Challenge. The JP Blues band took the competition hands down and earned the right to represent Long Island in the Blues Foundations "International Blues Challenge" in Memphis Tennessee. While in Memphis JP and the JP Blues Band gained the respect and admiration of not only artist they competed against such artists as Ruf Recording artist "Oli Brown", but also past IBC 2006 winners "The Homemade Jamz Band".

It was clear with JP's searing, soulful blues guitar backed by the solid rhythm section of Bassist John Young and Veteran touring/session drummer Pat Adkins the JP Blues Band combined a unique mixture of a hard rocking edge and gut tearing blues that gives hope to the rebirth of passion and soul in the music!
